MULLENSCOTE BLOG - MARCH 2011
New Website for Mullenscote Gundogs!

[Back to blogs >]

Yes, we've finally entered the 21st Century! After much effort (and lots of expert help for us technophobes!), our new web site is finally up and running at www.mullenscote.co.uk. Here you can find all our news, details of forthcoming shows & events, dogs for sale, courses, lessons, training tips etc - it's all there! Have a look and see what you think - perhaps even make it your home page. Either way, we'd welcome your feedback as we continue to build the site which we hope, in time, will become an interactive site for all your gundog training needs.

Ruby's Pups for Sale!

As mentioned in last month's blog, Ruby recently gave birth to a litter of beautiful working cocker spaniel pups. Now it's time to find them a good home as they'll be ready to go on 28th April. Their pedigree is really impressive;

Sire: FTCH Chyknell Goldstar, winner of the 2006 UK Cocker Spaniel Championships.

Dam: OFTW Western Rosie of Mullenscote (Ruby) who ran well in the 2011 UK Cocker Spaniel Championships.

One gold dog and two black bitches remain. For more information, call the Mullenscote office.

Gundog Training Courses at Mullenscote

Here's a quick overview of the courses we have planned in the near future together with some guidelines for entry requirements. If in doubt, give Annie, James or Aston a call and they'll be happy to advise:

In addition to the courses above, we continue to offer one-to-one lessons for dogs and handlers to meet your specific training needs. More details can be found at here but please call the office if you would like us to tailor a package to meet your requirements.

And the Oscar for Best Gundog Training DVD Goes to...

Howard's boyhood dream of becoming a Hollywood superstar took a small step towards becoming a reality with the launch of Mullenscote's new training DVD called "Establishing the Basics". With cameo appearances from myself and the rest of the Mullenscote team, the DVD is 43 minutes of nuggets of useful tips and techniques for starting on the right path with your young gundog. And at only £9.99 a copy, it'll be one of the most cost-effective training aids you will ever buy.

And the Gold Medal Goes to...

We've had some fantastic results following the first of our Bronze, Silver & Gold courses that ended recently. 20 out of the 21 dogs and handlers that started the course passed with 50% managing the distinction of passing at Gold level. Brilliant stuff - and testament to all the hard work and dedication throughout the course by both handlers and dogs alike. Read more about the awards by reading Howard's blogs on the Horse & Country website at here.

Mullenscote Gundogs on the Road...

The Mullenscote Team are on the road again putting on demonstrations, running gundog clinics, assessments and offering plain good advice to anyone visiting the forthcoming shows all around the country. Here's just a snapshot of where you'll be able to find the team in the next 2 months or so. Look out for the Mullenscote lorry and tent, drop in to buy a video, ask advice on any training issue or just have a natter! We'd love to see you and your dogs!

And Finally...

Spring is upon us and Summer is just around the corner. Hopefully, we'll see more of the sun this year. But, whilst we humans look forward to the warmth of summer, it can be a killer for our dogs, especially if they are left in an unattended car. Studies show that the temperature inside cars can rise to lethal levels within 30 minutes - even if the weather outside is relatively cool. Hundreds of dogs die needlessly each year having been left unattended in cars. Sometimes it's kinder and far safer to leave your dog at home. If you would like to learn more about how to prevent such tragedies or find out how to treat a dog suffering from heat exhaustion, then we recommend you read some really sound advice here.

Keep an eye out for more news on the website. Hope to see you soon at Mullenscote. Until then, Keep Training!
